A few days after their notable appearance at Rock En Seine and as they prepare to cross the Atlantic for a new tour alongside Bilmuri, Novelists continues its ascent with “Ravage,” accompanied by a largely self-produced music video. This release marks the start of a particularly busy period of news for the Paris-based quintet, including a show at the Olympia scheduled for April 23, 2027!
Since the release of CODA in May 2025, Novelists has continuously evolved its universe. Still backed by ACKOR Music, its own label, the group refines an identity that has become increasingly distinctive, at the crossroads of modern metal, melody, and even more unexpected influences. A process that rests as much on impressive technical mastery as on a constant desire to push its own boundaries.
At the heart of this evolution, the voice of singer Camille Contreras is obviously one of its major assets. Capable of naturally switching from a metal approach to soaring, more pop-inflected lines, she accompanies writing that now refuses to choose between power, precision, and experimentation. With “Ravage,” Novelists continues this logic by pushing the dial even further, both musically and visually.
““Ravage” has never been conceived to be reasonable. We kept pushing the track further and further: heavier, more melodic, more wild… until a baroque cello finally seemed to us to be the most natural thing in the world“, explains the band. A description that perfectly embodies the mindset behind this new track, built around contrast and the pursuit of a balance between brutality and sophistication.
This same philosophy is reflected in the clip’s conception, directed by Bastien Sablé. Rather than outsourcing its production entirely to an external outfit, Novelists chose to handle a large portion of it themselves to preserve the artistic control of the project and maximize the budget: “The clip was born exactly from the same impulse. We had the budget to make our lives easier and entrust the project to a big production, but we chose to produce most of it ourselves, to extract the maximum from this budget and achieve the most ambitious result possible“, the band continues. This approach once again shows Novelists’ involvement in every aspect of their artistic project, from the music to its visual identity: “There is something very Novelists about this way of doing everything ourselves, even when it makes life harder for us, simply because we are obsessed with releasing exactly what we have in mind, exactly as we imagine it.“
And the group clearly has no plans to slow down. The last eighteen months have been particularly intense, with appearances at Hellfest, the Francofolies, the Graspop, the Download Festival UK and the Resurrection Fest, in addition to tours in the United States, Europe and China. After a sold-out La Cigale, Novelists is now set to hit the North American roads again alongside Bilmuri, before returning to Europe in the autumn for a string of shows with The Devil Wears Prada.
A trajectory that will eventually lead the band to a new major milestone in its history: on April 23, 2027, Novelists will for the first time perform at the Olympia in Paris. A symbolic date for a group that, since its beginnings, has continually expanded its playground and now seems determined to keep pushing the boundaries of its own universe.
