As I Lay Dying opens a new chapter. The pioneering metalcore band announces its first self-titled album, As I Lay Dying, due February 5, 2027 on Napalm Records, and unveils two new singles, “Polarized” and “Retribution”!
Two tracks with distinctly different approaches: “Polarized” favors melody and accessibility, while “Retribution” presents a darker, faster, and more aggressive side. The contrast offers an early glimpse at the band’s chosen musical direction.
“Polarized” and “Retribution” reveal two very different facets of what we have created. One is more melodic, while the other is darker, faster and heavier, most of it sitting somewhere between the two, explains the band. Despite their differences, both tracks remain faithful to the very essence of As I Lay Dying.
This new phase does not seek to reproduce a precise era of the band’s career. “We wanted to gather everything we naturally gravitate toward: melody, aggression, speed, power, emotion, atmosphere, and big riffs,” states As I Lay Dying.
Produced by Chris Clancy and Tim Lambesis, with Dusten Boles handling the production of “No Way Out,” the record will feature CJ McCreery of Immortal Disfigurement on that track. Surrounding founder Tim Lambesis, still on vocals and guitar, the current lineup includes Chris Clancy (bass, backing vocals), Don Vedda (guitar, vocal harmonies), Bill Hudson (guitar) and Tim Yeung (drums).
After 25 years in the business, As I Lay Dying, which has sold more than a million albums worldwide and left a lasting mark on metalcore, now looks toward the future. Mark your calendars for February 5, 2027.
