Plain White T’s Reimagine “Hey There Delilah” with LØLØ

August 1, 2026

A true classic of 2000s pop rock, “Hey There Delilah” is getting a second life. More than twenty years after its release, Plain White T’s unveils a new version of its biggest hit in collaboration with Canadian singer LØLØ, who finally embodies Delilah and recounts the story from her own perspective!

Released on May 9, 2006, “Hey There Delilah” established itself as one of the most iconic love songs of the 21st century. No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, nominated twice at the Grammy Awards and certified multi-platinum, the track has since surpassed 2.5 billion plays worldwide. Far from being merely a nostalgic memory, it continues to charm new generations through social media, cover versions and viral videos.

To celebrate this heritage, Plain White T’s today offers a fresh interpretation of the track alongside LØLØ. While the acoustic melody and the familiar voice of Tom Higgenson remain at the heart of the piece, this new rendition transforms the classic into a true duo. For the first time, Delilah responds to the narrator, shedding a new light on this long-distance love story that defined an entire generation.

This collaboration also carries a strong symbolic dimension for LØLØ. In 2020, the singer posted on TikTok an unofficial reply to “Hey There Delilah”, imagined from Delilah’s perspective. The video quickly became a huge hit on the platform. Six years later, this fan-born initiative has become an official collaboration with the group behind the track.

About this opportunity, LØLØ confides: “I think everyone who grew up with “Hey There Delilah” has wondered at some point who Delilah really was. Me too. I could never have imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that I could be Delilah someday! This song has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I even sang it at a talent contest in a summer camp when I was a child. In 2020, I wrote a Delilah-perspective reply that went viral on TikTok. So, being invited by Plain White T’s to officially reinvent this song six years later gives the sense that the loop is complete, even though it remains entirely surreal. It’s a tremendous honor to participate in the new chapter of such an iconic song and I am very grateful to be able to tell Delilah’s story in a new way.

In an era when video calls and social networks did not yet exist, “Hey There Delilah” managed to capture, with simplicity, the emotions of a long-distance relationship. With this new version carried by LØLØ, Plain White T’s is not merely revisiting its biggest hit: the band enriches its narrative by finally turning that once-cult monologue into a genuine dialogue.
