After stoking suspense in recent months, Greta Van Fleet finally lifts the veil on their next chapter. The American quartet will release its fourth studio album, Palace For The People, on October 9 through Republic Records. To accompany the announcement, the band unveils “Saw You Stand,” an emotive ballad that follows “Play Your Games” and offers a fresh glimpse of this work hailed as the most ambitious of their career!
Two years after Starcatcher, Greta Van Fleet returns with a record laid down in the spring of 2026 in the Tennessee and co-produced by the band alongside Mike Elizondo, known for his work with Turnstile, Fiona Apple or even Eminem. According to guitarist Jake Kiszka, Palace For The People remains deeply rooted in rock while adopting a decidedly contemporary approach: “As rock as this Greta Van Fleet album is at its core, it’s above all a very modern record.”
Musically, “Saw You Stand” perfectly illustrates this new direction. The track opens with a delicate piano melody before gradually gaining intensity, propelled by Josh Kiszka’s captivating delivery and his falsetto flourishes. Intimate and cinematic, this new composition emphasizes a more emotional writing while preserving the grandeur that defines the band.
The title of the album finds its origin in the history of Alexandra Palace in London, a venue the group had headlined in 2022. The musicians discovered that this iconic hall originally bore the name The Palace Of The People, a Victorian-era concept designed to allow everyone to escape and marvel, regardless of social status. This philosophy left a lasting impression on the group, who wondered what a modern “palace for the people” might signify today.
For Sam Kiszka, the answer is clear: “I can’t count the number of people who came up to me and said, ‘Here’s my best friend. We met thanks to your music or at one of your concerts.’ We realized then that our music is our palace.”
This sense of communal connection also fed the creative process. After years on the road, the four musicians deliberately stepped back to focus fully on writing, away from promotional duties and tour life. That pause solidified their bonds and their inspiration. “We still love each other as much, if not more, because we finally had time to spend together off the road. We’re closer than ever and we have even more to say and to share,” explains Josh Kiszka.
The drummer Danny Wagner confirms this renewed dynamic: “As soon as we’re all four in a room with a shared creative goal, there are very few things that can stop us.”
According to the band, Palace For The People will explore themes of humanity, the connection between people, resilience, and transcendence, presented as their most personal and audacious project to date.
With “Play Your Games” and now “Saw You Stand,” Greta Van Fleet confirms its ambition to open a new chapter in its story, ahead of the release of Palace For The People on October 9.
