Ahead of the release of their eighth album, Chosen Hell, Comeback Kid lifts the veil on the sharp-edged “Shedding Season,” recorded with Courtney LaPlante, the vocalist of Spiritbox. A powerful collaboration accompanied by an official music video!
The Canadians from Comeback Kid called upon Courtney LaPlante to inject an extra dimension into this new track. Fueled by a massive groove and especially catchy riffs, “Shedding Season” rests on a powerful vocal exchange between the singer and Andrew Neufeld, the band’s frontman. An intense confrontation that highlights as much Courtney’s abrasive shrieks as the hardcore energy that defines Comeback Kid.
The track tackles the need to free oneself from stress, conflicts, and the wounds accrued over time: ““Shedding Season” is about letting go of the stress, the dramas and the pain we’ve carried with us throughout our lives. It’s that precise moment when we decide to shed a weight that has become toxic and move forward by leaving all of that behind,” explains Andrew Neufeld.
The vocalist does not hide his excitement about this collaboration either: “We were lucky to welcome Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox on this track, and she absolutely shredded it. Our voices bounce off one another in a kind of back-and-forth confrontation. Her voice is incomparable, and her guttural screams convey an incredible intensity.”
“Shedding Season” appears on Chosen Hell, expected on November 6 through SharpTone Records. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Will Putney (known for Knocked Loose, Gojira, Every Time I Die), this eighth album will also feature an appearance by Brendan Garrone (Incendiary) on “Yesterday’s Gone.” It will follow Heavy Steps, released in 2022.
Comeback Kid will extend this momentum with a European tour in January 2027, including stops in Villeurbanne on January 16, Bruguières on January 17, Nantes on January 18, and Paris on January 19 at the Trabendo. A fresh chance to catch one of the pivotal names on the Canadian hardcore scene live.
